TEA ON TAP: Touch an ad to 'like' Lipton Ice Tea

Lipton Ice Tea has begun testing NFC at Sydney University, with ads featuring tags that students tap with their NFC-enabled phones to ‘like’ the Lipton Ice Tea Facebook page.

NFC marketing specialist Tapit supplied the technology. “We want to be at the forefront of new technology for Lipton and are looking forward to seeing how this test goes,” says the company.

  1. Oh, lord. . .

Will really meaningless engagements spring from NFC just as they have with QR?

    A Facebook “Like?”

    Why bother?

If we don’t see really rockin’ mobile experiences arise from an NFC tap, then people will ignore NFC just as they’ve ignored QR (in the West, non-Asia).

    1. NFC is superior to QR, if you haven’t used it yet, go out and buy an NFC phone. You will realise that it is actually fun to tap stuff.

      Cheers
