Frost & Sullivan: NFC to account for half of Europe’s mobile payments

Frost & Sullivan

NFC payments will account for 42.3% of all mobile payments made in Europe in 2015, according to new figures released by Frost & Sullivan. That percentage will increase to 49.6% in 2018, when 38% of mobile phones shipped in Europe will come with NFC.

“The European population is moving towards prepaid, online and contactless payments for small amounts,” says Jean-Noel Georges, global program director for ICT in financial services. “Numerous commercial mobile payment offerings will be launched in 2013, and by 2014-2015, greater uptake will follow.”
