Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health (LAMH) is to roll out an NFC-based time and attendance system in a bid to improve patient care record keeping and reduce administrative overheads.

The new service will use Skillweb’s SmartTask Attend solution and will be used initially by 75 support workers who are responsible for providing care to adults with severe and enduring mental health problems in the Scottish region.

SmartTask Attend runs on NFC-enabled BlackBerry Curve 9360 and Blackberry Bold 9900 smart phones and allows carers to electronically log their attendance. “The carer simply has to swipe their phone over a tag or label unique to the service user’s home to record arrival and departure times, with details sent to the SmartTask Attend web portal,” Skillweb explains.

“We are committed to enhancing service standards across our operation, so we are actively identifying leading-edge solutions that can help us better monitor and manage care delivery in our community,” says LAMH’s Hugh Cairns. “SmartTask Attend will provide the necessary insight to increase the time spent with service users, whilst streamlining our operation to achieve efficiencies.”
