Mobile barcode specialist Mobile Tag has added support for NFC to its 1D and 2D mobile barcode marketing platform, enabling marketers to use a single platform to deliver marketing campaigns using a full range of 2D barcode options (QR-Codes, Datamatrix, Flashcode or Fotokody), 1D barcodes (EAN or UPC) and NFC tags.
The platform allows NFC tags to be configured and referenced as easily as 2D and 1D barcodes, says the company, and is designed to simplify campaign management and to deliver access and usage statistics via a single CRM system.
The company has also introduced a barcode and NFC tag reading application for Android devices that is now available to download from Android Market. The app lets Android NFC phone users scan barcodes and read tags to obtain product information, perform price comparisons and more.
On the back of its new product introductions, Mobile Tag has also raised an additional €6.6m in funding. The round was led by SEB Ventures alongside the company’s existing backers XAnge Private Equity and Alven Capital.
“We’re delighted to make this investment in Mobile Tag and believe Mobile Tag’s technology and, above all, its management platform, will be very attractive for operators, advertisers and direct marketers,” explains SEB’s Frank Kelcz. “We’re looking forward to helping this company achieve its international aspirations.”
Mobile Tag was founded in 2006 and employs 55 people in France and the USA.
