Japanese electronics supplier Dai Nippon Printing has entered the NFC controller market with the announcement of a new product which, the company says, takes up only half the space in a mobile phone of the NFC controllers that are on the market today.

The new controller measures 8mm x 8mm x 1.6mm deep and provides support for ISO 14433 Type A and B contactless cards and tags as well as Sony’s FeliCa standard.

Samples will be available from 1 October 2010 with volume manufacturing due to begin in the Spring of 2011.
