American Express joins GlobalPlatform’s mobile contactless standardization efforts

Yulong to launch NFC phone by end 2009
Chinese handset manufacturer Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific is to launch “a dual-module NFC mobile phone at the end of this year”, according to a report in the SinoCast Daily Business Beat (via TMCnet). Inside Contactless adds NFC to MobiNear’s Box kiosks
Proximity and NFC specialist MobiNear has signed a technology partnership agreement with Inside Contactless. The deal will see Inside’s NFC reader modules being added to MobiNear’s kiosk solution, enabling consumers to use their contactless transportation cards or NFC-enabled mobile phones to access MobiNear’s PayGo platform for a broad range of payment, loyalty, access control and identification services. Telecom Italia announces large scale SIM-based mobile commerce project

Montreal picks Oberthur for contactless transit ticketing system
STM, the Societè de Transport de Montreal, has appointed Oberthur Technologies to supply contactless cards for use throughout the Montreal region’s public transport network, including buses, the subway and commuter trains throughout the Greater Montreal area and the city of Quebec. The cards provide both a contact and a contactless interface, conform to the Calypso standard and will be delivered over four years. More
New Toshiba NFC phone being developed by Toppan Forms, NXP and iWOW
The new phone will be based on Toshiba’s TG01 Windows Mobile handset. It will use NXP’s PN544 NFC controller and will be compliant with the Single Wire Protocol standard. It will be produced in test volumes only to begin with but the companies have big plans for the future. More
