Anything that moves merchants away from accepting credit card numbers in the clear is a plus. Perhaps I do not visit the same places as merchants but I have not seen the other proxies promoted to the same level as PayPal. My guess is that close to fifty percent of online merchants offer a PayPal option while only a tiny fraction offer any of its competitors. Any button is better than none.
