NFC World’s ‘Case study: Lessons learned from implementing HCE for cloud-based NFC mobile payments’ webinar is now available to view online. 245 people signed up to take part in the live event and participants gave the webinar a rating of 4.9 out of five.
The 45-minute long webcast was hosted by Sarah Clark, publisher of NFC World, and featured a presentation by Shaun Hodgkiss, chief technology officer at prepaid payments processor Tutuka, and Rob Macmillan, vice president for product marketing and product management for payment solutions at Proxama.
The webinar took place on 8 December and topics covered included:
- An introduction to the mobile payment market and the opportunities presenting themselves to issuers today;
- A look into the strategy behind the HCE mobile payment pilot between Tutuka and Proxama, including a high-level overview of how the service works, its provisioning process and how the transaction actually happens in-store;
- Detailed insight into the solution’s features and technical architecture, including a look at the innovative use of Amazon Web Services’ PCI compliant cloud-hosting environment;
- The key considerations, practical experience gained, challenges faced and lessons learned from the project, including what the companies plan to do next.
The presentation was followed by an extensive Q&A session which covered the difficulties faced when trying to identify and choose a mobile app developer and whether or not building this capability in-house is the best option, the processes needed to gain Visa and Mastercard certification, what mobile network operators and banks need to do in order to offer similar services to their customers, and best practices for ensuring the smooth delivery of an HCE-based mobile payments service for a large customer base.
A full recording of the webinar is now available free of charge in the NFC World Knowledge Centre, along with a downloadable slideshow from the event.
