French bank BNP Paribas has begun testing an NFC connected screen in its 2 Opéra concept store in Paris, allowing customers to complete transactions by holding their NFC phone or contactless payment card up to the screen.
The device has been deployed by payment terminal maker Ingenico and connected screen provider Think&Go and is set to be rolled out across other environments including shopping centres, stations and airports to let consumers make impulse purchases, retrieve coupons or make online purchases from a public place.
“For example, customers may choose to make a donation to their preferred charity simply by placing their contactless payment card or their NFC smartphone on the screen,” Ingenico says. “With this solution — integrating an interactive, dynamic and multi-content interface with multi-sum and multi-merchant payment capabilities — making a donation has never been so fast and easy.”

“This pilot solution is paving the way for new sales opportunities and new consumer journeys such as booking a product on screen and paying the balance when collecting it from a shop,” says Michel Léger, EVP of innovation at Ingenico Group.
“The screens generate transactions within a split-second, enabling the consumer to make a booking, a purchase or retrieve a coupon using their mobile phone or bank card without needing to download an application with one easy action,” adds Think&Go’s CEO Vincent Berge.
