Barclaycard begins rolling out HCE payments to mobile app

Barclaycard has begun rolling out a host card emulation (HCE) based mobile payment feature to its mobile app this week, with a complete rollout expected by early next week. Users can make NFC payments of up to £30 (US$43) with just a touch, and high-value contactless payments of up to £100 (US$143) by entering their PIN on their mobile device. More

New Yorkers will soon be able to pay for travel on the subway using an NFC device or contactless card following governor Andrew Cuomo’s signature proposal to redesign and renew 30 stations across the system. Broadcom NFC controller offers faster HCE transactions

Broadcom has unveiled an NFC controller with a new capability called Virtual Execution Environment (VEE) that “reduces HCE transactions to half their time, improves security without the need for a secure element and can perform transactions with the host off so users can still make a transaction when their device is powered off.” The new BCM20797 controller also features a smaller footprint, making it suitable for both mobile devices and wearables, Broadcom says... More
