Yulong to launch NFC phone by end 2009

Chinese handset manufacturer Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific is to launch “a dual-module NFC mobile phone at the end of this year”, according to a report in the SinoCast Daily Business Beat (via TMCnet). The company is working with mobile operators, banks and bus companies on NFC mobile phone testing and commercial use, the article reports, and Yulong has also signed up as a member of the NFC Forum. Inside Contactless adds NFC to MobiNear’s Box kiosks

Proximity and NFC specialist MobiNear has signed a technology partnership agreement with Inside Contactless. The deal will see Inside’s NFC reader modules being added to MobiNear’s kiosk solution, enabling consumers to use their contactless transportation cards or NFC-enabled mobile phones to access MobiNear’s PayGo platform for a broad range of payment, loyalty, access control and identification services. More

French retailers, operators publish NFC adoption plans

The Ergosum consortium of French retailers and operators has published its specifications and two use cases, for both traditional points of sale and self-checkout scenarios, ahead of planned large-scale testing of NFC in the French retail sector later this year. The use cases provide detailed explanations of how the consortium expects to see NFC being used for both payments and for marketing purposes, including promotional coupon campaigns. More

Telecom Italia announces large scale SIM-based mobile commerce project

From next year, Telecom Italia subscribers will be able to use a new generation of SIM card to purchase train and bus tickets, parking, theatre seats, concert tickets and hotel rooms from their mobile phone.
