Retail outlets and restaurants in the California city of Pasadena have adopted a hands-free payments service which enables consumers to make purchases and earn loyalty rewards using facial recognition technology.
More than 25 businesses across the US city have introduced the PopPay service at drive-throughs and in-store self-service kiosks or on at-counter display screens or hand-held Android devices carried by staff.
Developer PopID now plans a city by city rollout of the contactless biometric payment service.
