EZ-Link app lets transit users top up cards via NFC

My EZ-Link Mobile Android appSingapore transit and small value payments card issuer EZ-Link has launched My EZ-Link Mobile, an Android app that enables consumers to add value to their contactless card by tapping it to their NFC phone.

The top-up process is entirely cashless, allowing users to charge reloads to their credit or debit card, and is available on a range of devices. The app also allows users to view their transaction history and card balances and manage multiple EZ-Link cards.

A S$0.30 (US$0.24) transaction fee is charged each time funds are loaded via the app, but MasterCard will waive this for its customers until 31 May 2014. Discounts and special offers are also available at Food Junction food courts and restaurants to consumers who show the My EZ-Link Mobile app on their smartphones.

A video from EZ-Link walks users through the top-up steps:

“Using My EZ-Link Mobile service will enable every household to have their own top-up device, where they can enjoy on demand top-ups, permitting them to perform cashless payments on public transit and at more than 30,000 acceptance points including taxis, supermarkets and fast food chains island-wide,” says EZ-Link CEO Nicholas Lee.
