Toshiba announces NFC controller chip

Toshiba T6NE2XBG NFC controller

Toshiba has unveiled an NFC controller that enables multiple concurrent connections with three different secure elements — “allowing manufacturers to design NFC-enabled applications before the SE for the transaction system is determined.”

The T6NE2XBG is available for sampling today, at ¥300 (US$3.08) per item, and will enter mass production in October 2013 with an expected volume of one million units a month.

Toshiba is also developing an embedded secure element chip, and has plans to introduce a packaged product that incorporates an NFC controller and a secure element.
