AT&T has announced that a new NFC smartphone, the Pantech Discover, will be available from 11 January.
The 4G device is pitched as a “feature-packed smartphone in an affordable package” and will be available for US$49.99 with a two year agreement.
Features include a 4.8-inch HD display, 12.6-megapixel camera with 4x zoom and dual 3D surround sound speakers, as well as NFC.
AT&T is a partner in the Isis NFC mobile payments joint venture now under test in Salt Lake City and Austin.
