“Many, if not most” BlackBerry handsets to have NFC in 2011

Research in Motion co-CEO Jim Balsillie has further confirmed the BlackBerry maker’s plans to add near field communication functionality to its mobile phones at the Mobile World Congress this week.

Balsillie first mentioned the company’s interest in NFC at the Web 2.0 summit in December. Last month, a leaked roadmap of the CDMA phones RIM plans to launch in 2011/12 included details of four BlackBerry handsets equipped with NFC — the Monaco Touch, the Montana, the Sedona and the Malibu.
