HID Global has introduced a new embedded reader platform which is designed to make it easy for solutions providers to develop services that combine both closed and open loop payment schemes as well as leading transport ticketing technologies and protocols.
The new VeriClass platform is designed to be embedded into a wide range of payment and ticketing equipment including handheld, point-of-sale, kiosks and retail payment terminals, to enable applications such as automatic fare collection and ticketing, cashless payment, vending, loyalty and banking/ATM solutions.
VeriClass provides support for Visa payWave, MasterCard PayPass, American Express ExpressPay, EMV, MiFare, FeliCa, Calypso and HID Global’s own iClass access control card technology and includes a range of integration tools and technology certifications, a developer tool kit, an online developer centre and an embedded device manager, enabling remote servicing, diagnostics, firmware upgrades and life cycle management.
“Until now it was difficult for payment and ticketing system manufacturers to offer a single reader solution that was capable of simultaneously supporting closed-loop payment schemes like automatic fare collection, and open-loop debit/credit card schemes on the same reader platform,” says Mark Scaparro, HID’s senior vice president of identification solutions. “With VeriClass, we are raising the bar by offering an innovative, world-class product that, coupled with HID’s Developer Center, provides system integrators, terminal manufacturers, OEMs and solution providers with everything they need to bring finished solutions to market faster than ever before.”
“This offering gives developers the pre-certified hardware, firmware, tools and support necessary to build easily-upgradeable solutions that support the full range of cashless payment and ticketing applications, technologies, protocols and payment schemes,” adds Dr Selva Selvaratnam, HID’s chief technology officer.
