Mobile operator Bouygues Telecom has signed a joint development deal with Twinlinx, the French start-up developing an NFC sticker that lets any Bluetooth-enabled handset act as a fully-featured NFC device.

Bouygues Telecom has been an active participant in the French NFC trials since the early days of the industry and is a member of the Payez Mobile consortium as well as one of the three operators participating in the Nice city trial due to begin next Spring.

Twinlinx’s My-Max sticker combines an NFC transmitter with a security chip and Bluetooth functionality. Because it can communicate with both contactless readers via NFC and with the phone via Bluetooth, My-Max has the ability to add full NFC capability to any Bluetooth handset.

The deal includes financial backing and the provision of both premises and resources through Bouygues Telecom Initiatives which provides selected start-ups with office space and funding designed to help bring their technology to market.
