ROOM SERVICE: Virgin Hotels’ Lucy app enables guests to receive a mobile room key on their phone

Guests staying at Virgin Hotels in four US cities can now securely verify their identity, check in and receive a mobile room key via an app on their iOS or Android device before arriving at their hotel.

To use the service, guests first need to join the hotel chain’s The Know loyalty scheme. Membership also enables them to use the Virgin Hotels Lucy mobile app to access an expanded range of contactless in-room controls and leave cashless gratuities for staff from their mobile device.

“By integrating with The Know program, Lucy now offers a seamless connection between one’s loyalty profile and the booking platform, creating a personalized and streamlined guest experience,” Virgin Hotels says.

“Lucy’s secure ID verification allows guests to safely check in and use their device as the mobile key.

“Virgin Hotels has built in new features and several safeguards that validate one’s credentials, ensuring a safer and more secure experience for all.

“These new features join the app’s existing capabilities, including mobile key functionality, thermostat and TV remote controls, and the ability to order room service anywhere in the hotel.”

Virgin Hotels has made the updated app available for loyalty scheme members staying in its Nashville, Dallas, Chicago and Las Vegas accommodation and will add the service at a new hotel in New Orleans “coming this summer”.
